Does one size of stoma support belt fit all?

Support belts come in 8 sizes to fit different abdomen shapes, widths and lengths. We advise you consult your stoma care nurse or other healthcare professional if you are considering wearing a support belt.

How do I know if I need a support belt?

Most ostomates are advised to wear a support garment to a prevent parastomal hernia formation or b.to manage parastomal hernia. Check with your doctor or stoma nurse if it is suitable for you to wear a support garment such a support belt.

Should I check with my stoma nurse before wearing a support belt?

Yes, we would advise that you always seek medical guidance when choosing the correct support belt for you.

Should I wear a support belt all day?

This varies with each person and so you should speak to your stoma nurse or doctor about this.

Should I sleep with my support belt on?

No, you should not sleep with your stoma support belt on.

Are eakin® support belts available in other colours?
No, eakin® support belts only come in one colour.
Can I cut my eakin® support belt?
It is not advisable to cut your eakin® support belt as this will interfere with the support it is designed to give.
Where should I wear my support belt?

A support belt should be worn around your abdomen. It is designed to be worn over a stoma pouch without restricting natural output from the stoma.

How tight should my support belt be?

We would recommend you speak to your stoma care nurse or doctor about this. Generally speaking, to achieve accurate support you should be able to fit two fingers between the belt and abdomen.
