Unlocking my unstoppable with the extended eakin freeseal® range

So, what’s new?

eakin® has released a new range of freeseal® to cater for every stoma out there.

First up, we have the eakin freeseal® air:

This is a seal that is 1.8mm thin and comes in three starter hole sizes: 10mm, 18mm and 30mm.

It is perfect for a stoma that sits flush to the skin or is retracted as it is super thin and feels ‘barely there’.

Next up is the eakin freeseal® versa:

This is my favourite. It is 3.2mm thick and comes with the option of two starter hole sizes: 18mm and 30mm. Due to its extra depth, it has so much versatility, fitting into dips and creases and scars. Even with the thicker profile it still isn’t any more noticeable and it feels very secure.

Why I like it:

Having the different starter hole sizes has totally won me over. Previously, I had to stretch my seal and reshape it to fit my stoma, every seal turned out different and stretching it thinned the material and left my skin vulnerable in places. My stoma is currently about 30-35mm so the eakin freeseal® versa with the 30mm starter hole is perfect for me, I don’t even have to shape it, it just fits right into place for me.

With the eakin freeseal® versa being slightly thicker, the indents in my skin are better covered, my skin feels completely protected having that extra shield there and the seal itself feels more robust. Having quite liquid output, I was always feeling a little burn here and there a few hours into my new bag but with the freeseal® versa I don’t feel this at all!

Application:

eakin freeseal® are so easy to apply, the packaging is discreet, lightweight and easy to open. The seal comes in two plastic outer layers that peel off easily leaving you with the freeseal® itself. After doing all of my normal bag routine whilst waiting for my barrier spray to dry, I open up my freeseal® so it’s ready to go. You simply pull the ring onto your skin around your stoma almost like you would put on a rollneck jumper, I lightly press mine into place then put my bag straight on top. Alternatively, you could put your freeseal® straight onto your bag but do what works best for you.

Building confidence:

Bag leaks are one of the most stressful things about being an ostomate, it is so easy to miss an event just because the confidence isn’t there.

The eakin freeseal® is perfect for avoiding this and now having five different seal sizes, there is something for everyone.

I can honestly say that with the eakin freeseal® versa 30mm, I have had no sign of the start of a leak. Whilst using the eakin freeseal® versa my bag has lasted a whole extra day longer than normal without a leak or sore skin, so it has really increased my confidence.

Using an eakin freeseal® has been the best choice I have ever made. It is so kind to my skin whilst being so easy to apply and remove and it honestly doesn’t add any fuss at all to my bag routine but gives my bag so much extra life. If you want to be unstoppable go and get yourself a sample now!
