Immediately next to your stoma

It is important to try and keep the skin around the stoma in good condition.

  • Measure the stoma once per week during the first 8 weeks as the stoma will change shape and size.
  • Ensuring that your pouch is cut to correct shape and size will help to prevent problems.
  • Wash and dry your skin well, try not to use wet or baby wipes as they might prevent your pouch from sticking well.
