TG Eakin Ltd has requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme.

TG Eakin Ltd has requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. Having first received the honour in 2010, we have continued to demonstrate superior business performance for a second year running.

The Awards Programme, in association with Irish Life Corporate Business, recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. Within the requalification review process, the judging panel looked at how the company continues to uphold the standard of a Deloitte Best Managed Company. They considered business performance from every perspective including strategy, capability, commitment, financial performance and growth potential across all key functions of the business.

Commenting on the award, Jeremy Eakin, Managing Director of TG Eakin Ltd said: “We are delighted to receive requalification as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies. In what has been a challenging year economically, we have continued to grow and prosper. This is a testament to the hard-working staff and dedicated management team that we have in place at TG Eakin”.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland, across all business sectors. Speaking about the winners, Pat Cullen, Managing Partner of Deloitte and judging panel member remarked: “Despite the negative sentiment that currently prevails, the Best Managed Companies Awards Programme shows that Irish indigenous companies are a cornerstone of growth in the Irish economy and can and will play an important role in Ireland’s overall recovery. For proof of this, you need look no further than this year’s winners.”

Eakin Rebrand!

Happy New Year everyone! With the arrival of the new year, comes our new corporate branding. Our new website is a prime example of this.

Happy New Year everyone! With the arrival of the new year, comes our new corporate branding. You will see from our new logo that we have moved away from the multi-coloured branding, towards a cleaner, fresher purple, grey and white look. One of the reasons for this, was that when surveyed, a large number of our distributors could not recall the specific colours for each product group. We felt that our branding was becoming diluted as more products and colours came on board.

The first stage of rebranding is at a corporate level. This is evident on our new website and we invite you to explore some of the newest features such as the problem/solution section, the user guides, not forgetting your individual country page. Following a survey with our distributors last year, we have endeavoured to include as many of their suggestions as possible and we thank them for their contribution. We hope that they are happy with the end product.

The second stage of rebranding will be at a product level. From July 2011 you will begin to notice changes in Cohesive® packaging to bring it into line with the corporate brand. From November 2011, the Wound Pouches will follow. The remaining product groups will be rebranded during 2012.

These changes will happen gradually so that we can minimize wastage and we ask that you bear with us as we work through this process. The end result will be a fresh new look for TG Eakin Limited.

Eakin claim Gold in Nursing Times Product Awards

In November TG Eakin Ltd were delighted to receive the Gold Prize in the ‘Continence and Stoma Care’ category of the Nursing Times Product Awards for the highly innovative Cohesive® Paste.

On November 3rd 2010 at a prestigious ceremony in London, TG Eakin Ltd were delighted to receive the Gold Prize in the ‘Continence and Stoma Care’ category of the Nursing Times Product Awards for the highly innovative Cohesive® Paste.

The awards were set up to recognise and reward the products that are transforming patient care and helping healthcare professionals work efficiently. Innovation and practicality are both fundamental attributes for the devices and products that nurses use on a daily basis. High quality products enable nurses to work more effectively in a clinical environment and are essential for improving patient safety and assisting in daily care, observation and treatment.

The finalists were judged by a prestigious panel of clinical and industry experts to determine the winners in each category. The judges felt that eakin Cohesive® Paste successfully delivered in all of these areas, as it is indeed a stoma paste with a difference. It helps protect peristomal skin, prevent leakage and increase comfort and security. However, the main distinguishing characteristic of Cohesive Paste® is of course the fact that it is alcohol free. There is no stinging on application and it can even be applied directly onto excoriated skin, unlike many other pastes on the market. It is also quick and easy to use and may be used in conjunction with the well-established eakin Cohesive® Seals and Cohesive SLIMS®, the market leaders in peristomal skin protection since 1980.

All in all the judging panel recognized the positive impact that Cohesive® Paste has on managing patients’ continence or stoma needs by promoting dignity and comfort and also improving health. Nursing Times Editor, Jenni Middleton, commented: “We’ve been bowled over by witnessing this huge array of absolutely outstanding products. Some of them are incredible feats of engineering or demonstrations of phenomenal clinical know-how, and some of them are brilliantly genius in their simplicity and ability to change lives. But in all of them, the winning products have solved problems and made life so much better and easier, and more dignified – both for patients but also for nurses to deliver the very best care.”

Celebrating 30 Years of Cohesive at WOCN/WCET

Last week we travelled to Phoenix, Arizona for the first WOCN/ WCET Joint Conference as the two premier wound, ostomy and continence associations came together. with a ‘Universal Focus on Patient Care’.

In attendance were over 2000 nurses with representatives attending from across the world.

At the eakin booth we were launching eakin Cohesive® Slims® to the USA and Canadian markets which caused a great deal of interest. The nurses admired the new slim profile which leaves less residue on the skin yet provides the same great skin protection as the tried and tested eakin seals.

We are also delighted to be celebrating the 30th birthday of the eakin Cohesive® Seal this year and to mark the occasion we held a birthday party at our booth. And to make the day even more special Mr Tom Eakin, the inventor of Cohesive®, had flown out to join in the celebrations. Mr Eakin chatted to the nurses, describing how the Cohesive® Seal had been born and gave them a brief history on how it has evolved to the much loved product that it is today.

We were pleased to welcome our colleagues Gill Sims and Rachel Butson from Pelican Healthcare and Rone Sills from Manta Medical to our booth who assisted us throughout the Conference. Claudine Jardine, an Eakin competition winner and nursing professional from South Africa, also joined us on Monday and demonstrated her winning case study on eakin Wound Pouches. Please click to access the case study ‘Appendicitis to Fistula’.

A huge thank-you to all those who called at our booth to tell us how much you love eakin Cohesive® and the miracles it has worked for your patients. To view pictures from the event or if you had your photograph taken with Mr Eakin you can now download your pictures by clicking here.

For those of you who didn’t pick up a sample of the eakin Cohesive® Slims® at the Conference, the eakin Cohesive SLIMS® will be available from ConvaTec in the USA from 1st July 2010 and in Canada later in the summer.

For the first time TG Eakin Limited has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

We are extremely proud to have gained the most prestigious award for business success and will hold this award for the next 5 years.

The Queen’s Awards were inaugurated in 1966 and have since been honouring the highest achieving UK companies. TG Eakin Limited is one of only three companies in Northern Ireland to have been awarded this distinction in 2010.

Colorectal Cancer Event in Kenya

During the South African Conference, Jeremy met with one of the key nurses Prilly Stevens, who has recently retired. Prilly had been working voluntarily in Kenya, helping to train some ET Nurses.

Last year alone, turnover grew by 20% and is on target to grow by an additional 30% this year. Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and member of the judging panel, remarked, “Companies in the SME Category are superb role models of the type of entrepreneurial, innovative and export driven business that Northern Ireland needs for faster economic growth. I am confident that these companies will go on to become industry leaders and thereby encourage others to follow the trails they are blazing”.

TG Eakin Ltd was also commended in two further categories in the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards. ‘Business Team of the Year ‘ recognised the people orientated approach to management and the excellent level of service delivered by the company. The commendation in ‘Exporting Achievement’ reflected on the company’s success since they began exporting in 1992. In the past 2 years exports have extended to seven new countries and in 2009 TG Eakin Ltd introduced its first “franchise” companies in Holland and Germany.

Both judging panels were hugely impressed by the success of TG Eakin Ltd as a whole. Among the key factors contributing to this success is the strong relationships built with their distributors, regular business planning, high employee morale, an innovative approach to manufacturing and an excellent service quality.
