Q.  I use a convex pouch so don’t want anything too bulky.

Cohesive Slims® are perfect for using with convex appliances.  They offer complete skin protection but at only 3mm thick, they don’t create too much convexity and allow you a slimmer profile pouch.

Q.  The skin around my stoma is very red, sore and weepy.

Q.  The output from my urostomy burns my skin.

Given the watery consistency of the output from urostomies, it is useful to cover a large area of skin.

Q.  My stoma lies in a valley so I need to protect the surrounding skin.

Large Cohesive® Seals should be rolled out from the centre hole and then placed right up against the stoma. Gently roll the seal back again towards the stoma until you have a snug fit. The rest of the seal can be used to ‘travel up’ the valley so that the surrounding skin is protected.

Q.  I have a red mark around my stoma in the shape of my base plate.

It seems that your skin is allergic to the skin protector on your pouch/base plate. If you are generally happy that your pouch is perfect for you and are reluctant to change, simply place a Large Cohesive® Seal around your stoma before you apply your pouch. This will allow your skin to heal and prevent further irritation.

Q.  My stoma paste stings my skin when I apply it.

Q.  I need to fill the dips and crevices around my stoma.

Q.  I feel my skin ‘pulling’ when I remove my pouch, it’s very painful.

Q.  My skin is dry and sore around my stoma.

It may be that your skin is sensitive to the constant removal and application of your pouches. Release contains vitamin E which soothes and moisturises your skin. It also helps to maintain healthy skin around the stoma.

Q.  Alcohol stings my skin.

None of the Eakin products contain alcohol, simply choose the seal or Paste that is right for you.

Q.  My usual skin protector will not rejoin after breaking.

All Cohesive® Seals can be broken and rejoined.  This allows you to mould the skin protector to the shape and size you need.

Q.  The skin protector on my convex pouch doesn’t agree with my skin.

As well as ‘soft’ convexity, Pelican Convex Pouches have the added benefit of a skin-friendly skin protector.  Try this if you have had problems with other pouches.
