Your Questions Answered

Leakage

Q.  Some patients are worried about leakage and would like extra security

Cohesive Slims® offer extra security and peace of mind. They form a complete seal around the stoma, preventing leakage by making the pouch more secure. They will frequently enable you to keep your pouch on longer because of the additional security they provide.

Cohesive Paste® can be used around the stoma to provide extra protection against leakage. The paste is alcohol-free so does not sting on application.

If the stoma output is very liquid in form, it is worth trying Perform Gel Thickener sachets which turn the output into a gel form. This helps to prevent leakage and simplifies emptying the pouch.

Switching to a ‘soft convex’ pouch can help to eliminate leakage problems by helping the stoma to empty directly into the pouch. Pelican Convex Pouches are not like traditional rigid appliances as they are very comfortable to wear due to their flexibility and skin-friendly flange.
